The competing demands of Western Europe and the non-secular elements in the country has in recent years put a strain on Turkey’s political fabric, which has continued following a 2007 election that left no dominant party. Nonetheless, Turkey’s upwards trajectory has been impressive in the past decade as its strong economic growth continues.
