Particularly interesting is Akershus Fortress, the medieval fortress and castle, which was built in the 1300s and served as a prison for the Nazis during WWII. You can still explore the dungeons and vaults of King Hakon VII and a Resistance Museum onsite tells the heroics of the Norwegian resistance movement during WWII.
