Lying in the South Atlantic, the Caribbean includes Cuba, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, the Bahamas, Barbados, and the Cayman Islands. The consistently good weather and fine beaches is the main reason people visit, and all islands enjoy these attributes. While tight-knit Cuba is full of dilapidated sidewalks, buildings and cars, it is charming nonetheless and Havana is a fine city. Most islands are winter escapes for hordes of sun-worshippers and the Bahamas, Barbados and the Cayman Islands have the best beaches and resorts. Getting here is made easy thanks to a profusion of international and domestic airports on the main islands, although safety can be a slight a problem in the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Jamaica outside the tourist areas.
