Udawattekele Bird Sanctuary: is famed for its natural atmosphere and accessibility to the birds. It is situated off Wewelpitiya road and is only a short drive away from the city centre. Native Sri Lankan birds can be seen here including hanging parrots, yellow-fronted barbets and emerald doves. The sanctuary is also home to macaque monkeys and dozens of colourful butterflies.
