Known as Africa’s friendliest nation, Uganda is a stable, ecologically-conscious tourist destination. Landlocked in East Africa, Uganda is bordered by Kenya, Sudan, The Congo and Rwanda. With a wealth of natural attractions, there are chances to view wildlife, trek in pristine settings, and go white-water rafting. Half the world’s mountain gorillas are within Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The cities of Entebbe and Kampala are bustling and modern, with golf courses and good infrastructure. The mighty Nile begins in Uganda, and there is spectacular scenery at the Murchison Falls, the snow-capped peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains, and island-studded Lake Victoria. While Uganda is relatively safe, the Lord’s Resistance Army is active north of Murchison Falls National Park, and travellers should avoid this area.
