Thalang National Museum: part of the Fine Art Department’s collection of national museums preserving local heritage, this museum in the centre of the island charts the history and ups and downs of the island with some dated but informative displays.

Phuket Seashell Museum: this is an interesting display for shell collectors and those who are just curious. There are some prized and impressive shells among the collection, many from Thai waters. You won’t need more than an hour to see everything, but there is a worthwhile gift shop on hand.
