Krabi Travel Guide - Things To Do

Rock climbing: deserves a primary mention for Krabi, which is world renowned for its excellent climbing on the many limestone cliffs in the area. Climbers make a bee line for Ton Sai Beach, which has the greatest number of marked/bolted routes on this ideal rock surface.
But local rock climbing companies can also organise trips to Phi Phi and other islands for unique climbing with fantastic views to boot. Lessons are offered so that beginners can start out, thanks to a wide range of levels of difficulty.
Those without a dive certificate can take a four-day open water PADI course, offered by several companies, while others can opt for a day of snorkelling on an island tour to experience the colourful marine life here.
Kayaking: is another highlight of Krabi, thanks to a perfect playground of islands and rocky outcrops, scattered offshore and best explored by paddling. Many have caves or secluded beaches and you can easily paddle from Ao Nang to a handful of fun islands, but the tour companies recommend organised trips to Hong Island and others in the magnificent Pha Nga Bay.
Biking: is a good way to explore the interior immediately around Ao Nang, which also has large blocks of jungle covered karst dotted about the landscape. A pleasant loop of about 30kms takes you through coconut groves and traditional villages, in among the stark topography of the area and back to the resort area. Bikes are on hire at many places and you’ll barely need the ‘granny gears’.
