Rainy season often brings showers but it doesn’t rain all day. During this time, the island’s west side usually gets buffeted by summer monsoons from the mainland. The island’s east side is often affected by extreme rain and wind so it might not be a good idea to swim or play any water sports when a storm is approaching.
However, the sun still shines in the rainy season and some people who don’t mind getting a bit wet usually visit Samui during this season because of the cheaper accommodation.
Another good season to visit Samui is during winter when the weather cools off. It can even get quite chilly at night. Walking on the beach in the evening may require a light sweater. Generally, the climate in Samui is tropical and humid all year round and Samui enjoys the advantage of pleasant sea breeze from the Gulf.
