It is very easy to go to Rayong by car as the total distance from Bangkok is only 180 kilometres. From Bangkok, take Highway No. 3 (Sukhumvit) to the kilometer marker 136, then following the signs to Rayong. When you reach Rayong, go another 12kms then turn right at the kilometre marker 231. By ferry: Ban Pae pier is located 2kms from the marker. You will leave for Koh Samet from this pier. The ferries to Koh Samet operate daily from 06.00 to 17.00. The trip takes about 30 to 45 minutes, and there are departures almost every hour. By speedboat: speedboats can be hired from Ban Pae to the island. Long-tailed boats are another option for visitors with lower budgets. The ride on this kind of boat can also be fun and exciting but there is very little space for your luggage. There is no airport in Rayong, therefore no direct flights are available. |
