However Koh Samet is actually quite small and away from the beach there isn’t much on offer, as the inland area lacks the wonderful natural habitats of other islands.
Water sports: such as sailing, snorkelling, scuba diving and jet-skiing can be arranged at most of the resorts on Hat Sai Kaew, Ao Pai and Ao Vong Deuan. Windsurfing and jet-skiing are very popular at the north of Hat Sai Kaew, as the currents are strong and the wind is challenging.
Island touring: is usually arranged by many resorts around the island. The trip features visits to other islands and snorkelling in the sea on the reefs at the southern tip. Lunch boxes are usually provided and you get to visit remote beaches that few others find.
Trekking: is not particularly popular but there are many small hills located behind the beaches. Active holidaymakers who are bored of the beaches can explore the forests on the hills. Some resorts offer walking/trekking tour around the island.
Classes: including painting, dancing, yoga and meditation are offered in many upscale resorts on Ao Prao. You can attend only a few classes if your time is limited. As all classes are conducted in English, they can be quite fun.
Camping: is quite a rewarding experience if you have some time to spare. About 6kms east of Koh Samet is Koh Kudee (island) which boasts ultimate tranquillity and beautiful beaches. Travellers usually take a boat here from Koh Samet to spend a night camping along the beaches. The reefs here are also very spectacular, perfect for snorkelling and scuba diving.
