Koh Phi Phi Travel Guide - Activities
Beach life: most people come to Phi Phi Don to relax, and it certainly has two lovely beaches, with Dalam being the more popular bay because it dœesn’t have a pier or tour boats moored offshore. The waters are calm, clear and refreshing and since the tsunami swept away much of the overdeveloped beach front, the beaches are no longer crowded.
Watersports: are offered from the two bays with kayaking being popular, along with some beach activities such as volleyball. Fortunately jet skis and paragliding have been left on Phuket.
Climbing: is a must for those who have experience with rock faces, for the opportunities are excellent on the karst formations. There is at least one climbing company on Phi Phi who have chartered out routes in designated areas, and the views are spectacular.
Hiking: is limited due to the sheer topography, but there is trail leading up to the popular lookout above the east side of the main area and from here you can continue over to the east side of the island and wander around a bit. It is impossible to walk or hike on the west side.
Spas: are popular in Thailand now and good value and several are found on Phi Phi attached to hotels. It’s a relaxing way to pamper yourself, but the options on this island are strictly an indulgence and hardly the best value in Thailand.
