Most of the resorts are located on the limited flat coastal land along the west coast, which boasts lovely beaches and spectacular scenery, while the east coast is mainly mangrove and undeveloped. The interior is hilly and great for trekking.
Klong Prow Beach: is a lovely sweeping expanse of sand lined with coconut trees and discreetly developed. A couple of mangrove creeks here provide lovely locations for resorts that are built around the lagoons. This beach is far more private.
Kai Bae Beach: is the third and least significant beach along the west coast and is low-key with budget accommodation but does have the best views of the offshore islands. Some of the islands are so close you can swim to them. There are a few amenities here and it best reflects the eco status of the island. Just before the roller coaster road descends to this beach there is an excellent lookout point.
Lonely Beach: is a largely undeveloped small beach further south which is ideal for really getting away from everything and does have accommodation and limited facilities.
Bang Bao Fishing Village: is an interesting stilted village situated on a pier in Bang Bao bay. If you can ignore the tacky souvenirs you’ll discover a traditional Thai fishing village and a few home stays make it possible for you to stay over. It’s located at the southern tip of the island.
Waterfalls: are common on this mountainous island and the two main falls are Klong Phu on the east coast, which is easy to get to and worth visiting and Than Mayom on the west coast, which is less visited.
