Although Chiang Rai is a fairly small town it offers plenty of activities for travellers. Chiang Rai province is fairly mountainous area covered with forests and sprinkled with a few plains along the valleys of the Mekong, Mae Kok, Mae Ing and Mae Sai rivers, which lends itself to many forms of outdoor activities.
