It’s much cooler too than the coastal regions and most venues are outdoors. Thais love to get together over a bottle of whiskey or a few beers in the evening and there are numerous bars, music venue restaurants, karaoke bars, cocktail lounges and even a few discos for the adventurers. As a visitor, you can head for the Night Bazaar for some bargain souvenir and gift shopping. Several restaurants and bars are found in this area, but a better choice of lively places is found along the river, north of the Nawarat Bridge. The Riverside and Goodview are two well-established venues with great bands, good food and an exciting atmosphere. Another typical Thailand evening is spent singing karaoke, and although the locals love singing, it’s also a good excuse to get comfortable on darkened sofas with one of the leggy hostesses that are provided. Several discos attract locals and young foreigners alike, they are quite safe and the music is up-to-date, with Bubbles, below Porn Ping Hotel, being the most popular. Far more upmarket are the cocktail bars that are advertised in local media including some very posh places in the hotels for a much more refined evening. | |
