The province of Tak in northwestern Thailand borders the country of Myanmar, which is where the Mon people who settled in the area prior to the Sukhothai era originated. Today, the province’s main attractions are its ancient shrines and temples, and its four national parks filled with unspoiled forests and mountains. Not many tourist attractions are located in Tak, but there are certainly no shortage of hotels in Tak. Tak hotels in the city range from grungy and low budget to a posh high rise hotel which is still quite affordable compared to similar hotels in larger Thai cities. Mid-budget hotels in Tak are generally clean and well kept, while lower budget accommodations are older. Even more Tak hotels are available in Mae Sot, a town where foreigners may cross into neighbouring Myanmar only on day trips from the Thai side of the border. Three guesthouses are also available at the Mae Moei National Park and Lan Sang National Park.
