Introduction to Rayong, Thailand
The province of Rayong on the northern coast of the Gulf of Thailand is situated halfway between Bangkok and Thailand’s border with Cambodia. Rayong’s most popular tourist destinations are the islands of Ko Kodi, Ko Mun and Ko Samet, all just a short boat ride away from the province’s capital city of Rayong. The widest variety of hotels in Rayong can be found in Ko Samet, a quiet island retreat for both Thais and foreigners. Most Rayong hotels in Ko Samet are located along the beautiful beaches of the island’s eastern coastline and vacancies can be hard to find all year round. Budget bungalows, which are getting harder to come by, fill up the fastest and may not provide their own toiletries or towels. There are also many luxury resorts on Ko Samet, most of which accept fax, phone, and email reservations. Seeing rooms prior to booking them and checking for mosquito netting on the windows are other recommended tips.
