Introduction to Phuket - Rawai Beach
Rawai Beach is Phuket Island's original tourist destination due to its easy access. Nowadays, the area is more a point for tourists to take excursions to other islands in close proximity to Phuket. It is possible to take daytrips to Koh Lone, or Coral Island, as well as to fish or snorkel. However, the beach itself is not suitable for sunbathing since when the tide is out it turns into a mudflat, and there are too many boats docked in the sea around Phuket Rawai Beach to make it a safe spot for swimming. However, a short drive to Promthep Cape, to the east of the area, offers one of the best spots on the island to watch the sun set. The viewpoint here offers vistas of several bays.
