Introduction to Phuket - Pha Khlok
Although most of the island of Phuket is dedicated to tourism, there are pockets which do not have much in the way of tourist activities. Pha Khlok is one of these areas. It is a local residential area just a short distance from Phuket City, quite a way inland rather than close to the sea. There are a handful of Pha Khlok hotels which include fashionable resorts equipped with swimming pools and spas. These places to stay are more popular with Thai vacationers than Western ones. The closest beach to this area is Ko Kaeo, which can be reached by car or taxi in about 20 minutes from Pha Khlok. In nearby Phuket City, visitors are able to visit shopping malls, dine out in local restaurants or admire the Sino Portuguese architecture. The majority of tourist destinations are located on the opposite side of the island, along the west coast.
