Introduction to Phuket - Kamala Beach
Sheltered by forested hills and a well-enclosed bay, the tranquil fishing village of Kamala Beach is considered one of Phuket's best kept secrets, and many of the beach's frequent visitors prefer to keep things this way. This is an ideal place for visitors wishing to escape the crowds and noise of nearby Patong. Most Kamala Beach hotels are small or medium-size accommodations near its long, calm and virtually deserted beach. The beach's north end is its busiest part, especially when surfers come to challenge its waves between May and October. Parasailing, jet-skiing and longtail boat riding are this beach's other major water sports. The only over-the-top attraction here is the FantaSea entertainment complex, a spectacle which gives any Las Vegas show a run for its money. FantaSea visitors can enjoy one of Asia's biggest buffets as they take in this show filled with trapeze artists, performing elephants and a cast of hundreds.
