Introduction to Phuket - Chalong
The muddy waters of Chalong Bay may be more suitable for sailing than swimming, but yachting certainly is not the only available activity in this eastern Phuket port. Many Chalong hotels are located near the bay’s new 720m long jetty, which is surrounded by tourist information kiosks, shops, restaurants, open-air waiting areas and yachts bobbing in the water. Many people say visitors have not really arrived on the Thai island of Phuket without seeing the bay’s stately golden temple. The bay's other famous landmark is the island's legendary 45m tall Big Buddha. Paintball, air soft BB guns, ATV rides, archery and clay pigeon shooting are all available at the bay's shooting range. The Kinnaree Entertainment Complex on the shooting range grounds offers a monkey show, a cobra show and a snake farm. Visitors may also ride elephants at a reputable camp in the hills or fish for barracuda and tuna on the Andaman Sea. Koh Hae, an island named after its hard coral species, is a popular daytrip from the bay.Visit our Phuket Travel Guide
