Introduction to Nakhon Si Thammarat - Khanom
Khanom is the name of the northernmost district in Thailand's Nakhon Si Thammarat province in the southern part of the country. Although Khanom's beaches are not as sandy or well known as those in Koh Samui or Krabi, more and more people have discovered these secluded, windswept, and rocky areas. The variety of Khanom hotels has increased dramatically from just a half a dozen bungalow groups during the 1990s to the growing number of low rise hotels, VIP resorts, and spas which exist today. The amount of accommodation and visitors to Khanom will surely increase even further when the Hat Khanom - Mu Ko Thale Tai National Park opens. This park will protect much of this area's Gulf of Thailand coastline, shale mountain ranges, several caves, and mangrove forests. The oldest of the district's many Buddhist temples is Wat Kradangnga, which has existed since the Ayutthaya era. Krabi is just a two-hour drive away, while Koh Samui can also be reached in two hours by ferry or in just half an hour by speedboat.other spellings: khanomhotels, khanom otel, khanom hotell, khanom hote, kanom hotes
