Introduction to Krabi - Ao Railay
A major beach destination, Krabi's Ao Railay is also a major rock climbing destination that attracts climbers to the iconic limestone cliffs that make this tropical beach resort such a major draw. With access to the shoreline only possible by boat, this resort remains a great deal quieter than other destinations in ever-popular Krabi. Phra Nang Beach is like no other anywhere and perhaps this is reason it has in the recent past been voted among the top 10 beaches in the world. It features dramatic, overhanging rock formations towering above powder-white sand. Just about anywhere else, West Railay Beach would be considered the star of the show. It is a beautiful crescent of sand in a secluded bay framed by jungle and jutting cliffs that makes for spectacular sunsets. Ao Railay hotels are designed for rock climbers and honeymooners, and are therefore priced at the high end of the market, with budget travellers usually staying in nearby Ao Nang.
