Introduction to Koh Samui - Choeng Mon Beach
A quiet, immaculate stretch of tropical coastline, Koh Samui's Choeng Mon Beach has remained immune to the tourist development seen elsewhere on the island, thanks mostly to its isolated position. As such, this beautiful bay makes an idyllic getaway. There is a PADI-certified diving centre here as well as equipment for hire for snorkelling and kayaking. Indeed, the beach is famous for its water sports. Just off the coast lies the small isle of Koh Fan Noi, which can easily be reached by kayak for those looking to do more than simply sunbathe. Most of the restaurants here cater to the upmarket Western crowd, meaning the Thai food here is of an excellent quality but not always as spicy and authentic as elsewhere. Choeng Mon hotels are all top-end and mid-range, which means prices are high, the quality of accommodation is usually excellent and backpackers are a distant memory.
