Introduction to Kanchanaburi - Tha Makham
Tha Makham is the district of Kanchanaburi in central Thailand that is just north of the Bridge over the River Kwai. There is a great choice of Tha Makham hotels here which are close to the riverside and within walking distance of the infamous bridge. Venues to suit all tastes, from cheap backpacker options and luxury establishments offering full guest amenities, are available. Cafes and restaurants here serve a profusion of Thai dishes as well as international favourites. The district's River Kwai Bridge Station is the boarding point for Death Railway tourist trains across the bridge to Nam Tok. Tourist attractions in the precinct are Prachum Chanaram Temple and Chao Por Pinthhong Shrine. Raft cruises on the Kwai offer sightseeing in the daytime and the evening. The highlight of the annual River Kwai Bridge Festival in late November is a sound and light extravaganza which depicts the WWII history of the construction of the so-called Death Railway.other spellings: tha makhamhotels, ta makam otel, tha makham hotell, tha makam hote
