Introduction to Chumphon - Beach
Southern Thailand's Chumphon Beach actually encompasses three enticing beaches, all of which are open to tourists. These stretches of sand are a little off the tourist trail and as a result, they are uncrowded throughout the year. The largest and most used beach is Haad Paradorn, which is lined by restaurants and features shaded areas in which to escape the sun. The other two beaches, Haad Sairee and Thung Makhan, are more beautiful and quieter, although in recent years resorts have begun to establish themselves on these beaches. From Haad Sairee, it is possible to go to Koh Mahprao, the habitat of Thailand's sea swift. There are seafood restaurants that are able to set up picnic mats along the beach for visitors to eat on and deck chairs for hire. Thung Makhan, meanwhile, is a good spot for snorkelling due to the abundance of coral in the sea around here. Chumphon Beach hotels are beginning to grow in number and some fantastic resorts can be found in this area.
