Introduction to Chiang Rai - Mae Chan
A gateway to hill tribe communities, the Mekong and Myanmar, Chiang Rai is a popular destination on many tourists' travel itineraries. This Northern Thailand province is filled with attractions and surrounded by stunning landscapes, resulting in a picturesque holiday. One of the main attractions here is Doi Nang Non, or 'Mountain of the Sleeping Lady', which can best be viewed from the district of Mae Chan. From here, it is also possible to visit the mountain's caves and waterfalls, and many visitors opt to stay overnight at one of the Mae Chan hotels to get an early start in the morning. It is also possible to visit Doi Tung mountain, where some of the most visited sites in Chiang Rai can be found.
