Introduction to Chiang Mai - Riverside
Chiang Mai's Riverside is a popular area with tourists due to its nearby parks, museums and markets. The Kawila Monument is one of the main attractions next to the river; this monument to the founder of modern Chiang Mai is housed in a beautiful park. The museums around this area include the Wat Ket Karam Museum and Harris House - Missionary Museum, both of which explore Chiang Mai's past and display historical artefacts. The flower market and Warorot Market are both worth visiting. It is possible to pick up an orchid very cheaply at the former, while at the latter you can buy local snacks and delicacies such as local sausages. These markets do not have a tourist feel to them and you will be shopping alongside locals. A further walk away from the river will bring you to the Night Bazaar, where it is possible to buy souvenirs. Riverside hotels are situated next to some of the best restaurants in Chiang Mai, where it is possible to have a tasty meal in a peaceful setting.Visit our Chiang Mai Travel Guide
