Introduction to Chiang Mai - Doi Saket
The district of Doi Saket is situated in northern Thailand's Chiang Mai province and was first established in 1902. Doi Saket is further subdivided into 14 sub-districts and 110 villages called muban, and is mainly a rural farming region of rice fields. Therefore, most people who choose to stay in Doi Saket hotels want tranquil accommodation far away from busy cities, and the district's intimate and high quality resorts do not disappoint in this area. One of the main attractions is a Buddhist temple called Wat Doi Saket known for its modern and colourful wall murals. The district is also home of the high solid pressured Mae Guang Udom Thara Dam across a river also called Mae Guang; Nong Bua Prachao Luang Lake, where many wild duck species swim among 54 types of lotus; and the Tweechol Botanical Garden, which boasts one of Thailand's biggest collections of plants. Tweechol Botanical Garden also includes the Huen Chaiharn Museum whose four rooms house Buddha images, ancient Lanna weapons, and many other fascinating attractions.Visit our Chiang Mai Travel Guide
