Introduction to Chiang Mai - Airport
Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) is the region's gateway to the north of Thailand, with flights to most northern, northeastern and central airports domestically and a number of regional airports internationally. Its two terminals are serviced by 10 airlines and receive more than two million passengers each year. Flights are available to both of Bangkok's airports, with flights running at least every hour. It's possible to bypass the capital and fly direct when travelling south to Phuket, Ko Samui or Hat Yai. Internationally, Chiang Mai Airport has flights to Kuala Lumpur, Yangon, Seoul, Taipei, Luang Prabang and Singapore. Chiang Mai airport hotels are just a couple kilometres southwest of the moat surrounding the city centre. Taxis are available from the airport, but a songtaow or tuk-tuk dropping passengers off are likely willing to take visitors into the city for a slightly lower price. Many hotels and guesthouses also offer pick-up services.
