Introduction to Bangkok - Suvarnabhumi
Thailand's largest airport, Suvarnabhumi, is located on the outskirts of Bangkok. All travellers arriving in Thailand will land at this airport. The area does not have much in the way of sights or attractions, and visitors usually head straight into the centre of the city. The area has excellent transport links, especially since the Airport Link train service opened in 2010. This service enables passengers to get to the centre of Bangkok within 30 minutes, which is impossible by road during rush hours. The closest area of interest to Suvarnabhumi is Ramkhamhaeng, where visitors can expect to find decent Suvarnabhumi hotels, nice places to shop and an amusement park called Safari World, where wild animals can be seen from the comfort of a car and plenty of rides cater for families. However, most cultural attractions are in the city proper. Facilities at the actual airport include gift shops and newsagents, a health centre, eateries and a hair salon.
