Introduction to Bangkok - Ratchadapisek
Bangkok's Ratchadapisek is fast becoming the cultural epicentre of the Thai capital, thanks to the presence of the Thailand Cultural Center. Shows, exhibitions and performances are put on here throughout the year. In the same area, the Social Education and Exhibition Building can be found, which puts on historical exhibits about Thailand. Close by, the Siam Niramit show takes place - an extravagant affair detailing Thai culture. Aside from culture, the Esplanade Mall is a fun place to take children due to its bowling alley and ice skating rink, which can make pleasant changes from the oppressive Bangkok heat. There are also some smartly decorated beer gardens for tourists to enjoy well into the night and the area has nightclubs frequented by Bangkok's high society, especially on Royal City Avenue, known locally as RCA.
