Introduction to Bangkok - Bangrak
The district of Bangrak is one of 50 in Thailand's capital of Bangkok, and was first established in 1912. Bangrak has long been the most popular of Bangkok's districts to register marriages, particularly on Valentine's Day, because one of the meanings of Bangrak is 'village of love.' However, Bangrak hotels have become popular places to stay for visitors who come to Bangkok throughout the year, including some of the most luxurious five-star accommodation in all of Bangkok along the Chao Phraya River. The 247m and 68-floor State Tower may be Thailand's second tallest building, but it is just one of many modern skyscrapers along Bangrak's Si Lom Road, home to some of the nation's most expensive real estate. Si Lom Road is also lined with art, jewellery, clothing, and antique shops. However, not all of this district's attractions require a lot of money to enjoy. It is also the home of Sri Mahamariamman, Thailand's best known Hindu temple, as well as the Buddhist temples of Hua Lamphong and Maha Phruettharam. Bangkok's Assumption Cathedral is also located here, and so is the Bangkok Folk Museum.Visit our Bangkok Travel Guide
