Introduction to Amphawa, Thailand
Located within easy driving distance of the city of Bangkok, Amphawa is a pretty village in western Thailand, perhaps best known for its traditional floating market, which is open on weekends and offers a wide range of products. Visiting the floating market is like stepping back in time, and visitors can take a ride in a long wooden boat along the winding waterways of the area to purchase everything from cheap and cheerful souvenirs to fresh fruit and vegetables. The market open around noon and a number of stalls beside the river also sell snacks and light meals such as pad thai. While it is possible to visit the town on a daytrip from Thailand's capital city, those who decide to spend the night here will find an excellent range of Amphawa hotels to choose from.
