Things to do in Tanzania
Dar-Es-Salaam - explore the local colour at the Kariakoo Market
The Kariakoo Market is possibly the largest market in Eastern Africa, and covers several blocks of Dar Es Salaam. Its principal products are fresh vegetables and meats, although there is a growing trade in electronic goods, in fact anything you would need for your home. There are also exotic sea shells and dried reptiles for sale, plus other unique items. It can be busy and crowded at times, so you will need to be careful with your valuables when walking through the bazaar.
Dar-Es-Salaam - stroll and enjoy the fragrance at the botanical gardens
The botanical gardens in Dar Es Sallam were first laid out in 1893 and have been expanded ever since, until their present size and design today. They provide a great escape from the bustle of the busy city, and give a chance to see some of the spectacular plants, found in Tanzania. Of particular beauty are the blue jacarandas and bougainvilleas that can be found all over the country. These gardens are also one of the few places you can view the Coco de Mer plant.
Introduction to Tanzania
Tanzania is the biggest country in east Africa, so it is unsurprising that tourists manage to trace many good Tanzania hotels here. The country has borders with Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi and Mozambique to name but a few, so if you are staying in Tanzania hotels you will be perfectly placed to explore some of the best spots in the rest of the continent. Due to its location by the equator, people staying in Tanzania hotels will be able to watch the sunrise and sunset at the same time every day. The vast majority of Tanzania hotels are found in Pembwe. It is very humid here, however, so it is best to book a hotel in Tanzania with air conditioning. Some nice lodges also sit near the Ruaha National Park, which is home to many natural attractions such as waterfalls, volcanic mountains and Matema Beach. Those looking for the best deals should avoid the touts and hunt out the bargains for themselves, as commission is always added to the price.
