National Museum of History: is located in a beautiful building which houses a fascinating collection of Chinese art, porcelain, pottery and bronze work. Many of the artefacts come from the Forbidden City in Peking. The museum was once ranked among the top four museum’s in the world.

Fine Arts Museum: is home to the Permanent Collection exhibition which celebrates the works of local artists during the 20th century. The paintings demonstrate how the western world has influenced artwork in the east.
181 Chung Shan North Road. Open: 10:00 to 18:00 Tuesday to Sunday.
Taipei Fine Arts Museum: houses 24 galleries which showcase many fine pieces of modern art. The exhibitions change regularly as this is the only museum of its kind in Taipei. A gift shop is located on site, which sells copies of artworks other souvenir items.

Taiwan Provincial Museum: was built during the Japanese occupation in 1908 and is home to several priceless aboriginal paintings and artefacts. Its main purpose is to teach visitors about the aboriginal tribes which have played an important part in Taiwanese history.
Kungyuan Road. Open: 11:00 to 17:00 Tuesday to Sunday.
Peitou Hot Spring Museum: were built in 1913 and were once the largest hot spring baths in East Asia. Recently, the public baths were converted into the Peitou Hot Spring Museum which has an extensive exhibition detailing the history and culture of the area. There are old photographs and pictures, documents and other items to view.
