It was not long before there was a large scale migration from many parts in mainland China and Taipei began to divide itself according to the immigrants.
Today, Taipei is a bustling capital city which is rich in culture and history. It is the country’s commercial and administration hub as well as leading the way for culture and entertainment.
Taipei is home to many different ethnic groups who migrated from China and this has led to a variety of celebrations, ceremonies and festivals. Many of Taipei’s festivals have gained an international reputation including its Lantern Festival, Mid-Autumn Moon Festival and the Flower Festival. During religious and national celebrations there are usually colourful parades, firework displays and a range of other events to be enjoyed.
The most convenient way of getting to Taipei is to fly into Taoyushan International Airport, although there is also a domestic airport. The city has a reliable and efficient transportation system which allows ease of travel.
