By air: the Taoyuan International Airport and the Taipei Songshan Airport (Domestic) are the two main airports in Taipei. The international airport handles flights from many international destinations including the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Australia and cities in Europe and Asia.
By ferry: Taiwan is connected to Japan and China by ferry. The Arimura Sangyo Lines sails once a week from Nagoya and Okinawa to Kaohsiung and to Keelung. From here, there are a number of transportation options to choose from to get to Taipei. The Macau to Taiwan crossing was suspended some time ago, but is due to restart in the near future.
