Yang Ming Shan National Park: during the Japanese occupation the mountain was called Tsaoshan because it was overgrown and unkempt but after World War II the government renamed the mountain Yang Ming Shan. They then built a park here that contains hot springs and has a volcanic geography.
The park is relatively small and has been landscaped in the traditional Chinese style. From February to April the park stuns with its beauty with cherry blossoms, azaleas and hundreds of butterflies.
Wulai Aboriginal Village: hidden in the mountains is a small aboriginal village where visitors can learn about the Atayal tribe that live here. The are traditional dances and rituals to enjoy and also a ride on a suspended cable car to the top of a magnificent waterfall. Dreamland, an amusement park, is located at the top.
