Introduction to Taipei - Songshan
Taipei's Songshan, an area located just east from the centre of Taipei City, sees many visitors thanks to Songshan Domestic Airport. The district might not be as built up as the city centre, but there are still some fantastic attractions to check out here. The Ciyou Temple, built in honour of the Godess Mazu, is a superbly colourful building housing beautiful golden statues and decorations. The Raohe Street Night Market is situated close to the Ciyou Temple. It is one of the oldest night markets in the country and visitors will be able to pick up a souvenir here. This area of Taipei is well connected to the heart of the city as it sits on a metro line and is served by many bus routes. Songshan hotels are mostly used by those who are staying in the area on business or flying in and out of the local airport, but there are some tourist-orientated lodgings close to the temple.
