Introduction to Taipei - Shihlin
Shih Lin is in the north of Taipei and there are numerous sites of interest that attract tourists to this part of the Taiwanese capital. The famous National Palace contains treasures that were rescued from the Cultural Revolution and the museum here showcases an impressive collection of Chinese art. Well-known items include the jade cabbage and boat carvings. This site is accessible via the MRT and visitors should disembark at Shilin Station. There are many other museums in Shilin including the Astronomical Museum, which provides information about the universe. There are permanent exhibitions, an Imax theatre and a regular movie theatre at this attraction. Zhishanyan Cultural and Ecological Garden is worth a visit and is one of the oldest archeological places in the country. There is a trail here which passes many sites of historic significance such as Huiji Temple and the Fortified Gate.
