Introduction to Taipei - Dandhuei
Dandhuei is a small city to the north of Taipei, the Taiwanese capital. It's a popular destination among both locals and foreign guests, who come here to enjoy the city's picturesque waterfront and charming old buildings. Most visitors get here by MRT from Taipei, making the 40-minute journey on the Dandhuei (Red) Line. Travellers who would like to spend a little longer here will find that Dandhuei hotels are easy to find. Hongmao Castle is one of the city's most popular attractions, easily accessible by shuttle bus from the main subway station. In addition, it's well worth wandering the Old Town and the waterfront, where a number of local delicacies are on sale. The 'iron eggs' are highly recommended, as is the fish ball soup. Diners looking for something more upmarket should continue on to Fisherman's Wharf, where chic cafes sit alongside expensive seafood restaurants. Fisherman's Wharf is also a good place to begin a boat trip to explore the beautiful northeast coast.Visit our Taipei Travel Guide
