Sun Moon Lake is a beautiful lake in Taiwan that is renowned for its clear blue water which sparkles against the mountain backdrop. This is a popular destination for both international tourists and Taiwanese newlywed couples. To access this region, you can take one of the buses which depart regularly from regions such as Taipei and Taichung. The nearest major train station is located in Taichung and you can take a bus from the station here to the lake. To get around the lakeside, it is possible to rent a car, scooter or boat. Sites of interest include Wenwu Temple, which is the largest temple situated on the northern bank. Lalu Island is in the middle of the lake and can be reached by boat. Another sight that is worth adding to your itinerary is Ci-en Pagoda, which is 46 metres tall.
