Introduction to Kenting - Beach
Visitors head to Kenting Beach because it is one of Taiwan's premier holiday destinations. The beach, situated in the very south of the island, is particularly popular in the summer and around spring with both international and Taiwanese travellers. The beach sits in a cove which is surrounded by hills and trees. This foliage offers a decent amount of shade to those who need a break from the sun. Offshore from the beach, surfing is becoming increasingly popular and there are local surf schools which can help visitors to master the sport. Diving and snorkelling is also possible and the surrounding sea has plenty of coral. There are also places to rent a jet-ski, while close by is a go-karting track. At night there is a strip near to the beach which has a night market with street food stalls. Seafood restaurants can also be found backing the beach, which is actually park of Kenting National Park. As a result of it being in a protected area, the beach and surrounding area are not built up. There are, however, plenty of Kenting Beach hotels to choose from and a camping ground.
