Introduction to Palmyra - Archaelogical Park
Palmyra is one of the most historically-important cities in central Syria. The ancient hub is located to the south of its more modern centre, and is considered one of the country's top tourist attractions. As such, there are plenty of amenities near the ruins, such as cafes, restaurants and Archaelogical Park hotels. Travellers can get here by bus from Damascus, with services departing hourly from the Harasta bus terminal. After checking into their accommodation, guests will be keen to explore the most interesting sites in the Archaelogical Park. These include the Temple of Ba'al, built in the 1st century AD and considered to be the most important religious structure in the Middle East at that time. The ruins of the ancient theatre are also worth a visit. Built at the same time as the Temple of Ba'al, this structure once comprised of 12 rows of seating, nine of which still remain in the present day. Camel rides are among other activities that are popular with visiting tourists, as is 'an evening in the desert'. The latter is an organised event which provides food and traditional entertainment, all under the cover of a Bedouin tent.other spellings: archaelogical pakhotels, archalogical park otel, achelogical park hotes
