Introduction to Bloudan, Syria
The Syrian town of Bloudan sees many visitors during the summer season when the area experiences low humidity and moderate temperatures. Also referred to as the Land of Almonds, Bloudan is known in the country for its forests dominated by almond trees. Situated 51kms northwest of the capital of Syria, Damascus, Bloudan is seated on top of a hill, overlooking the plains of Zabadani. The town is surrounded by mountain forests, and snowy winters result in a number of ski tourists vacating to the area. Many Bloudan hotels are available to accommodate the tourist seasons. One of the most famous hotels in Bloudan is the Great Bloudan Hotel, known as the venue for the first Arabic conference in 1937 to host discussions on the Palestinian issue.
