Eating Out

Eating Out and Dining Guide to Zurich
There are a few options for good value food though with many restaurants offering special lunch time offers, as well as many fixed priced menus which are invariably cheaper than ordering a la carte. Certainly if you’re happy to spend a bit you won’t be disappointed with the restaurant selection here.
If you want to eat some traditional local cuisine while you’re here then keep your eye open for restaurants that serve their food nach Zurcher Art which translates as ‘cooked in the style of Zurich’. This tends to be quite rich with copious amounts of cream and butter and plenty of meat and potatoes.
Switzerland is of course famous for its fine chocolate, as well as some excellent cheeses. Emmental and Gruyere are particularly delicious and you should try a traditional cheese fondue while you are here. For breakfast you should try birchermuesli, which is muesli and a great healthy start to the day.
Other local dishes worth looking out for include spatzli, similar to gnocchi, and if you’re a little more adventurous then try kutteln nach Zurcherart, liver with bacon and potatoes. You’ll also find plenty of fine patisseries around town where you can indulge yourself in the afternoon.
