Activities in Zurich
Golf: golf lovers will be able to get their fix while holidaying in Zurich, with the Golf and Country Club Zurich, the leading golf club in Switzerland, being located just 12kms outside the city.
The course welcomes non-members, but you will need to phone and book in advance. The 18-hole course was opened in the 1930s and is a beautiful course to play. If you can’t get a booking here there are a number of other courses a short distance from the city.
If you are used to running on roads, you will find the soft wood shavings here much easier on your joints. The courses have a range of uphill and downhill stretches, providing a great varied workout in some stunning scenery. Alternatively the Allmend Fluntern public path, close to the zoo has a number of running paths.
Swimming: with an average temperature in the summer of 20°C, it is possible to swim in Lake Zurich itself, which is quite an experience. The beach at Tiefenbrunnen is one of the most popular is a short 15-minute tram ride from the city centre. For a more conventional swimming experience, many of the city’s hotels have pools and there is also a public indoor pool with sauna facilities at Sihlstrasse 71.
