Lucerne Travel Guide - Getting There
By air: although Lucerne dœes not have its own airport, the Zurich International Airport is less than an hour away and has a wide choice of flights and operators. This is the busiest airport in Switzerland and there are routes to most European cities and many others around the world. Once at the airport, you can take a taxi, train or bus to Lucerne city centre.
By rail: Lucerne is a major rail hub in the region as it lies at the junction of four different lines. This means that it is easy to travel to other cities in the country such as Zurich (50 minutes) and Bern (90 minutes). International train routes make it a popular alternative to flying.
By bus: the cheapest way of getting to Lucerne is by bus and there are long distance services covering most European countries operated by Eurolines. The national bus network is efficient and has many routes to other important towns and cities.
