Swiss food might not seem immediately exciting, but with the strong French influence you’ll find Geneva has some of the best cuisine Switzerland has to offer. Some of the particular favourites to try here include salmon from Lake Geneva, fricassee of pork, longeole (Genevese sausage), or cardoon, artichoke served with gratine.
Aside from its superb chocolate you’ll also find excellent cheese in Switzerland with tome, vacherin and gruyere especially good in these parts. There are plenty of restaurants here serving a traditional Swiss fondue which is usually filling and delicious.
Although you won’t really find budget eateries as such, you will find it possible to get some decent value by choosing fixed price menus or taking advantage of special lunch time offers. At the other end of the scale, there really is no limit to what you might spend when you start getting into real luxuries.
