February Festivals
Lucerne Carnival: culminating on Mardi Gras night and considered the biggest carnival in the country, this festival is well worth visiting with a great party atmosphere, especially in the old town area.
March Festivals
ZuriCarneval: one of Zurich’s most popular festivals sees the townsfolk dress in colourful costumes and enjoy themselves in a number of events around town. Local Guggen music is a popular theme.
Festspiele: Zurich’s Festspiele is a celebration of the best music, opera, art and theatre in the city of Zurich with a range of exhibitions and performances held at venues around the city.
July Festivals
Montreux International Jazz Festival: considered one of the best jazz festivals in the world, Montreux has been welcoming internationally renowned performers since 1967. Montreux, near to Geneva is also an attractive lakeside setting.
August Festivals
Locarno International Film Festival: taking place over ten days in August, the Locarno Film Festival is now considered one of the top five in the world, there are screenings in all the city’s cinemas and in the impressive open-air Piazza Grande venue.
September Festivals
Lucerne International Music Festival: from its beginnings in 1938, this has grown to be one of Europe’s best classical music festivals with concerts held in a range of venues across town.
